All Guns Blazing
Three years since the last Australian Grand Prix and four years since my first United States Grand Prix. The Netflix Effect, as they call it, has taken full effect, porpoising is the new keyword, and Ferrari has fallen and risen again. It feels like a lifetime has passed.
I had long questioned tentatively whether I should attend this year’s home Grand Prix (it would be my first), but I don’t remember the last time I have been so ready for the start of a motorsport season, if ever. And with a couple of years absent of motorsport-related travel I went full Netflix Effect in excitement and drove the 10+ hours from Sydney to Melbourne for the four-day event. I wasn’t the only person who was excited for racing to return to the streets of Melbourne either, as it turned out this was the most attended one in the city’s history. That could be felt, I assure you.
I’ve just finished rewatching the weekend’s telecast to stay up-to-date with everything I’d missed, and I’m already making plans for next year.
