One and the Same
I think only Porsche 911 owners and enthusiasts can edge out those of Mazda MX-5 disposition in outright commitment to the platform and to the culture that surrounds it. Some might crucify me for making that comparison, but hear me out. They both share an obsession with the simple pleasures of driving, they both share similar philosophies in tuning their platforms, and I don’t know who else would collectively get up at dawn on a Sunday morning to attend their own gathering.
It was only a month ago that I was out at the last Cars and Coffee hosted by Autohaus Hamilton, but even so there was no shortage of new (and old) Porsche peers, and of course welcome surprises in the form of one very period 930 Turbo Flachbau. The first one I remember seeing, even at Rennsport Reunion. One of my personal favourites however was a 968 Club Sport Coupe in Amaranth Violet. Porsches of the front-engined kind are terribly underrated, but in my opinion that’s part of the allure. And the Club Sport moniker is just the cherry on top.
